OUR VALUES

A Sense of Duty

We attach the utmost professionalism and the highest sense of humanism in our dealings with participants, communities and all our partners.

Honesty and Integrity

We ensure transparency, accountability and responsibility in our work and dealings with our participants, communities, partners and other organisations.

Justice and Fairness

We provide fairness and equality in all our dealings. This is regardless of race, ethnic background, gender, age, class or political affiliation.

Compassionate

At the core of our work is the spirit and sense of compassion we naturally have towards the marginalised and under privileged.

Volunteerism

We welcome individuals and organisations who share our vision to volunteer their time and services so we can broaden our scope and reach people in as many communities as possible.
RIWC seeks to bridge the gap in our educational system which leaves an increasing number of youths who are talented in the creative arts but not in other areas of academia behind. Our mission is to help those with a passion to succeed achieve their ultimate goal of becoming self-sufficient and economically independent.

We provide the needed safety net and cushion for those who fall off our educational system and others who are prone to become victims of social injustice.
We believe that training talented youth and those with a passion to succeed, giving them effective presentation and business skills and a platform to exhibit their work and know their worth will boost their confidence and encourage them to assert themselves intellectually, socially, economically and politically. As well as improving the lives, they stand a better chance of improving the lives of other people in their community. RIWC prioritises the training of under privileged youth, especially young ladies with creative talent who are forced to abandon their education due to arranged marriages, early pregnancies or other social vices. We strive to train these young ladies to achieve their potential in the Creative Arts and become self-sufficient and successful in their chosen fields.

RIWC is a foundation which seeks to enhance and empower the youth to excel in their creative skills and acumen, gain social and economic strength and improve their standard of living and that of their community.

CHANGING THE WORLD
IN OUR OWN SMALL WAY

HOW WE BEGUN
At RIWC we focus primarily on underprivileged youth between the ages of ten and eighteen in deprived communities and schools.
Read, Imagine, Write and Create (RIWC) International is a foundation which works to achieve social justice, gender equality, youth empowerment and poverty reduction through Creative Arts to unearth, train, equip, enhance and promote the creative skills and potentials of under privileged youth.

We work directly with individuals, communities and organisations, women’s movements and government agencies to identify and develop creative concepts and modules that can empower the youth to unleash their creative talents and build a career in the creative arts industry.

As well as training the youth, we expose them to the professional community, exhibit their paintings and other works of art in galleries around the world, publish their books and turn their scripts into staged plays, radio plays, soap-opera’s and films.

Gaining recognition for their creativity both locally and internationally helps boost the confidence of participants. It inspires them to excel in their chosen fields.

WHO WE ARE

To achieve social and economic justice, the prioritisation and the promotion of the youth and their work in the Creative Arts industry. We aim to reduce poverty through training the youth and empowering them to promote their passion for creativity.
OUR MISSION
To create the much needed community and national consciousness about the Creative Arts and its economic and social worth with respect to the emancipatory potential it has to liberate huge sections of under privileged youth especially young ladies from a life and a future of poverty and social stereotype.

We seek to provide an equal platform and opportunity for young individuals, from the age of 10 to 18, to identify, unearth, explore and assert themselves in every respect of life and be a conduit through which others might find their feet and voice creatively, socially and economically.
